Slow Living Travel Packing Checklist for Intentional Trips

Slow Living Travel Packing Checklist for Intentional Trips

I'm going on my first trip abroad for 2026 this month šŸ˜

Me and Mr Morse are off to Lyon for a long weekend.Ā

I fell in love with France a few years back, and it’s stayed with me ever since.

Long, luxurious lunches that stretch into the afternoon. Market mornings filled with seasonal produce and handmade treasures. Quiet villages where time's edge's are blurred. Endless vineyards that stretch to the horizon.

I'm enchanted by the slow living, cottage core simplicity.

Sustainability seems woven into every day with cities designed around strolling instead of traffic, pavement cafe chic, and wild herbs sneaking into surprising nooks and crannies.

It feels so aligned with what Hen's Tooth is all about.

Perhaps I’m romanticising, but I won’t apologise for it; we all need a little whimsy in our lives!

Bringing A Little Bit of France Home

While I'm there, it would be rude not to wander around brocantes, village markets, and artisan shops to bring back a curated selection of lovely things for the Collections.

Adventure Ready

As I start packing for my trip, I’ve been browsing through my own collections, and I realised I already have a handful of thoughtfully curated travel essentials that are perfect for anyone heading off on an adventure.Ā

Here are my favourites…

  • Notebook - Capture memories, journal your days and scrapbook your adventures. Whether it’s a quiet morning thought or a spark of inspiration, those moments can be fleeting, catch them while you can.

  • Sustainable Bamboo Toothbrush - Don't forget your toothbrush! Care for your smile and the planet with a bamboo toothbrush, a simple but impactful swap in the war on plastic waste.
  • Fruit Foldies - Foldable bags are ideal to pop in a pocket while strolling the streets and marketplaces, handy for those impulse buys andĀ souvenirs without taking up valuable luggage space.Ā

    Ā

    • Solid Shampoo - Because you never know how good the shampoo will be in your hotel room, apartment or villa. A solid shampoo bar takes up little space and doesn't count towards your liquid allowance. Even better when they come in their own tin, no sticky messes justĀ lusciousĀ locksĀ

    Ā

    • Pareo Throw Spa Towel / Throw - these hamam towels are so versatile for holidays. Use as a beach towel, wrap on a chilly evening, sarong on a sunny beach, lap blanket for the flight, or an extra layer to sleep under at night. An adventure ready must have!

    • Cabin Baggage Ready Rucksack - With multiple pockets, sections and soft padding, our Wanderlust Hemp backpacks are sustainable, strong and stylish.Ā

    • Zipped Pouch - My handmade pouches are unique and versatile. Ideal for makeup, nick-nacks, stationery, hair accessories, jewellery whatever little trinkets and essentials you need for your adventures, keeps them tidied, safe and stylishly stowed away. The 'Chicken Folk' set of 3 pouches are a joyful way to organise all your bits and bobs for your suitcase.

    • A Cosy Book - This is the part where I shamelessly mention the series of 4 novels I wrote a few years ago - The Sheridan and Blake Series. I'm the first to admit they aren't winning any literary prizes but they are fun page turners for relaxing by the pool or sitting on a sunny balcony.
