Hand-thrown Lithuanian Lava Glaze Apple Dish
£20.00
A tiny treasure with a big story.
We met a father and son at a market in Kaunas, Lithuania, who have a pottery studio (they're int he picture).
I was drawn to this unusual pottery technique - Hand‑thrown, this apple‑shaped dish showcases the traditional lava glaze technique. This beautifully unpredictable finish involves adding chemicals at a certain stage during firing to create a reaction where bubbles form and create these unique, richly textured, aquamarine, and deep black colours.
No two pieces are ever the same, making each dish a one‑of‑a‑kind keepsake for your home.
Why This Piece Matters
